SharePoint benefits encourage businesses to migrate their file server data online. However, there are at least 7 limitations of SharePoint Online and OneDrive that need to be effectively addressed to reduce migration costs and eliminate OneDrive sync failures. In this article, we'll identify some of the common issues that complicate SharePoint migrations and ways to simplify the migration and solve the issues. Here's a list of common issues: 5,000 item limit in a document library 100,000 item sync limit for the OneDrive client NTFS permission reorganization requirements Maximum name length limitations Prohibitive costs of data reorganization 93 day recycle bin threshold Lack of support for legacy application data (databases, etc…) Obviously, you may not hit every issue in each migration but migrator beware if there's a lack of awareness of how these limitations could impact user experience, productivity, and cost. A Real-World Example Before we discuss each of these items
We recently worked with an engineering company that had accumulated 300TB of data on-premises. They have over 1,000 employees across 83 locations generating about 10 TB of new data per month as they provide analysis of design failures and expert testimony for any associated legal proceedings. By their estimates, housing this data on-premises costs them an average of $2,000 / TB / month after adding up all the management and infrastructure costs associated with the required deployment. They decided to migrate all 300 TB to the cloud to cut costs since SharePoint's costs per TB are comparatively low at $190/TB. However, they soon realized that they really didn't require constant, expensive access to all 300 TB so they elected to save even more by moving the majority of their storage to a cloud-based archive. But there was a catch. Even though they were essentially archiving the data, they needed it to remain easily accessible as if it were still on a file server. Using Centre
Are you paying for a Cisco or Palo Alto firewall with a VPN client like AnyConnect? Switching to CentreStack can turn those costs into profits or savings. The amazing thing is that CentreStack is also easier to use, faster and more secure. Does this sound too good to be true? Are you wondering how we can offer more security than a VPN? And what if you’re locked in with a multi-year contract for your VPN\Firewall? Or what if you need the VPN or even RDP to run applications? Keep reading and we’ll address each of these issues. Service provider reduces firewall and VPN costs by 80% I recently spoke with one of our MSP partners. They had a large law firm as a client. The firm was using a Cisco Firewall and the AnyConnect VPN client to allow remote workers to access files. After switching 115 users to CentreStack, costs were reduced by more than 80%. More importantly, it was a much simpler experience for remote workers which eliminated VPN-related tickets. How can Centre
