Reports Options - Monitoring Cluster Activity

Image
We are providing you with some very useful reporting options in the dashboard of the cluster manager web portal. When you are logged in as a manager (in this case, Cluster Manager), you will see the Upload Report on the main dashboard screen. If you need more information, you can click the Reports shortcut on the right side of the dashboard view. This opens the Reports section, where you can choose from several Report Options: Upload Report, Storage Statistics, Active Users, Guest Users, Node Performance, Bandwidth Usage, Server Agents, System Diagnostic Report and Audit Trace. The Upload Report gives you information in graph form about file uploads. The Storage Statistics Report gives you detailed information about how your storage is being used; file types, file and folder size, tenant storage use breakdown, how much storage your users are consuming, file type distribution, and file size distribution. The Active Users Report shows you which users are currently u

Groups and Roles - User Access Controls

Image
This tutorial illustrates how you use Groups and Roles together. You create Groups (e.g., Users, Admins) to categorize your users. You create Roles to establish features that can be accessed, permissions and restrictions. Then you can assign those groups to various roles (e.g., no sharing). You can access Groups and Roles by going to the Tenant Dashboard (1) and selecting them from the shortcuts on the right side (2). In this graphical representation, users are added to the "Users" group, and the "Users" group is added to the "No Sharing" role. In the “No Sharing” role, I have set the following rules: Once this is set up, users in the User Group that have been assigned to this Role will not be able to share Externally or share folders. This can be demonstrated from the user’s Window’s Client machine. In the following video I demonstrate how to set up the role so that any group that is assigned to it will not be allowed to share.

Adding Guest Users by Sharing Files

Image
This demonstration shows you how Guest Users are created when you share files, and how the number of guest users can trigger an additional licensed user to be added automatically to your account. This demonstration shows you how Guest Users are created when you share files, and how the number of guest users can trigger an additional licensed user to be added automatically to your account. When you add users to your tenant, each user takes one license. Every licensed user allows 3 guest users to be created. This happens any time a share is created and sent to an email address for a user that isn't already in the tenant. So if you have 6 licenses available for your users then you have 18 guest accounts as well. This dramatically expands the usefulness of your licenses and allows others to take advantage of this powerful cloud sync and share solution. In this example, when you reach the 18 guest user limit, the 19th guest created will trigger the partner portal to add an addit

Web Portal - Types of Users

Image
The scope of users (e.g., functionality, feature set, permissions), varies based on the permissions of the user logged into the CentreStack Web Portal. The Cluster Administrator has authority to control almost every aspect of the Tenants created in the cluster; however, they cannot access the files of other users. If the users is a Tenant Admin, they see and control the Team Folders of the users, set up Active Directory connections and create or import users. As a user, Web Portal access is limited to the folders the user has permissions to use and their user settings. Users can also have access to client downloads so they can connect their personal devices to the server. I hope you found this tutorial useful. CentreStack Installation, Setup and Configuration Basics

Image
How to quickly install and configure a CentreStack server. This is a basic guide that shows you how to setup CentreStack, add a tenant, add a user, connect the user to CentreStack with the Windows Client. Sometimes the CentreStack Documentation can be overwhelming. So I have created a 30 minute video that walks you through the process of installing and configuring your CentreStack Server. This also covers briefly, creating a Tenant, creating a User and connecting CentreStack to a Windows Client for that user. This can save you a lot of time and demonstrates just how easy it is to setup a collaborative user experience in the cloud. I hope you found this tutorial useful. Folders in CentreStack - Attached vs CIFS

Image
Migrating your file-server shares to CentreStack can be done in a few ways. When you migrate by Attached Folder method, you get access to the files and you can add collaborators as needed and even restrict access using native CentreStack permissions settings. However, a better way--especially if you have many users and a file server with Active Directory--would be to attach shared folders using the CIFS Share method. This migrates not only the shared files and folders but the associated NTFS permissions connected to that share. I hope you found this tutorial useful. Sharing with Guest Users in CentreStack

Image
CentreStack lets every licensed user share files and folders with three guests. So if you have three licensed users in CentreStack you can have nine guest users accessing files and collaborating on projects. I hope you found this tutorial useful. New Videos - Migrating Users and Shares to the Cloud

Image
These two videos demonstrate how easy it is to migrate users and shares with permissions to CentreStack. CentreStack is an enterprise file sync, share and collaboration platform. Collaboration plays a key role in large enterprises and it is very important for admins to migrate users from their file server. In Centrestack, administrators can easily migrate users even when their AD infrastructure server and Centrestack server are on two different networks. Using Centrestack's Server Agent Client on a domain joined machine administrators can select Migrate a User and the user's Credentials from the remote File Server. Once this is done, that new user can log into CentreStack using their Windows AD credentials. CentreStack is an enterprise file sync, share and collaboration platform. Administrators can migrate an existing file server share along with all the security permissions. I hope you found this tutorial useful. If you want more content like this, please Subscr
